An overview of climate, topography and landscape of the country. It is advised to also create a sketch, you can add a link to this (hosted on imgur or similar)

Climate

I imagine the climate to be Dfa in the north and Dfb in the southern shores, simillar to Michigan or Wisconsin in real life.

Landscape

Middle regions (hillier areas)

Most of the rural areas (mix of great plains and lakes)

How the Montclair city center can look like

Topography

A brief description of the territory demographics, economic development, land occupation, infrastructure and mapping style

Mapping style, land occupation

Area used for inspiration: American Great Lakes area, Midwestern farmlands and Michigan.

Demographics and Economy

I estimate the total population to be around 1m people, with the largest city being Montclair with a metro area of 300k people. The economy of this state would be mainly focused on agriculture and heavy machinery manufacture, with the main city being a bit decadent like many midwestern American cities. The capital would be Fort Blair in the middle of the state which will only have 50k people.

The Canal linking the two lakes would be the main reason as to why Montclair became a large city, and I would like to move the border of the state to the canal.

Infrastructure

General plan of the territory

A brief description of the intended culture and language

Culture and Language

Language would obviously be English, and for history, it could have gained a state status in 1830 with many farmers moving in.

Name etymology

Menowakee comes from “good lake” (mino + gami) in Ojibwe, with the native tribe being confused when asked about the name in a foreign language and just assumed it was about fishing in a context of trade.

To support your request provide links to areas of OGF mapping which showcase your mapping skill. Mapping relevant to the requested theme & geography is especially useful
The {{coord}} template can optionally be used to link to the OGF map - it results in a nice formatted link. Or you can paste in a URL.

Refused. The town of "Moline" is a direct aerial trace of Oakley, Michigan (down to the pipelines, buildings, and placement of amenities like the petrol station and church]): - detail down to the most minute was confirmed using the Scale Helper, and is even more apparent on satellite imagery. The direct tracing of an entire town and attempting to pass it off as fictional mapping clearly goes against our "be original" rule: OpenGeofiction:Site policies. /wangi (talk) 09:22, 10 September 2024 (UTC)
