The Territory ID (from OpenGeofiction:Territories, e.g. AR123a) and proposed name of the country |
BG05; Lavin (pronunciation: la-VUHN)
Physical geography | |

An overview of climate, topography and landscape of the country. It is advised to also create a sketch, you can add a link to this (hosted on imgur or similar) |
Lavin has two climates depending on the area. In the southwestern region, it is a sub-tropical climate with humid summers but dry winters. The coastal area has quite a few beaches. The Lavin Plains is located in the southwestern region. To the southeast, it is a heavily forested area with many ponds and rivers. The most notable body of water is the large Lake Trane. The southern part of the country is generally flat. The northern part of the country is a different story. The climate is an arid/tundra climate, depending on the time of year. This is thanks to the Lavinens Mountain Range in the eastern part of the country. The elevation of the country varies widely. Next to the Lavinens is the Aldwin Forest, a large dense forest taking up a good portion of the northern region.

A brief description of the territory demographics, economic development, land occupation, infrastructure and mapping style |
The country has a population of around 12.2 million people. Most people live in the southwestern part of Lavin. Levy Beach is a major urban metropolitan center consisting of many bustling town centers, offices, and apartments. There is a major rail system that carries people to the northern parts of the country that runs adjacent to the main highway. There are a few small towns in the country with populations ranging from 100 to 5,000 people. Port Sallen is a similar metropolitan city, although less urbanized. It is more of a sea port. Speaking of ports, Port Sallen is a major trade center as many of the country's goods travel to that port. Fishing is a major source of food and a major factor of the economy. Outside of exports, Lavin is a big producer of wood and timber because of its abundance of trees.
Brenet will be a mix of urban, suburban, and rural mapping. Although not as economically prosperous as Port Sallen or Levy Beach, the city still manages to generate wealth via imports and exports. The Lavin rivers runs adjacent to the capital city, which provides access to the other territories and their goods.
The rest of the country are small settlements that rely on the goods from the major cities.
History & culture | |
---|---|
A brief description of the intended culture and language |
The official languages of Lavin are Ingerish and Lenian, although Lenian is a minor language. The area was first settled around the Middle Ages. Lavinians heavily value families and interpersonal connections. Christianity is the official religion of Lavin, with the majority of Christians being Orthodox Catholic. Christianity was introduced to the country around the 10th century. Although initially reluctant, the native Lavinians gradually accepted the religion while mixing it with their own traditional beliefs. It eventually switched to Orthodox Catholicism because their version aligned more with the Orthodoxy.

To support your request provide links to areas of OGF mapping which showcase your mapping skill. Mapping relevant to the requested theme & geography is especially useful | |
The {{coord}} template can optionally be used to link to the OGF map - it results in a nice formatted link. Or you can paste in a URL. |
Since this is a beginner's territory, I only have a few examples of mapping.
I made portions of a town and city here:

Approved. Reminder that BG territories are for building up mapping experience, ahead of a full application. They are not for long-term mapping. Thanks/wangi (talk) 10:59, 5 June 2024 (UTC) | |
