The Territory ID (from OpenGeofiction:Territories, e.g. AR123a) and proposed name of the country |
AR120-52 - Sault BG33 - New Territory
Physical geography | |
---|---|
An overview of climate, topography and landscape of the country. It is advised to also create a sketch, you can add a link to this (hosted on imgur or similar) |
The State of Sault will be dominated by flat farmland in the northern 2/3rds, and will be home to the majority of the state's largest cities, including the largest city Wrightdaughter, and will also be home to the state's major rivers, making this region prime for agriculture.
The southern 1/3rd will be more focus on it's access to Lake Senepii, and a bit more wet then the rest of the state, it will mainly be based of the IRL Toledo, Ohio region.
the climate will be influenced by Lake Senepii, especially in the south, and gets dryer the more you head north, but only slightly, it will mainly be like Western Ohio and Eastern Indiana when it comes to climate.
The region is mostly flat, but some bluffs do appear along the Akogama River, mainly found north of (Previously Micksborough) in Illuvia. There are also some hills in the north and wetlands in the south by Lake Seneppi. Flat area with rivers.
Human geography | |
---|---|
A brief description of the territory demographics, economic development, land occupation, infrastructure and mapping style |
The State will have a population of around 1-1.30 Million, with its biggest city and capital being Wrightdaughter (replacing Eriksburg), which will be based off Dayton, and will have a similar population to it, and its 2nd largest being Nordseehaven (will likely get renamed), based off Toledo, Ohio, with a similer population to it aswell. Most of the population will be along FS-2 between the western border and Wrightdaughter, and the freeway south (route number undecided) between Wrightdaughter and Nordseehaven.
Wrightdaughter will be a transportation junction with FS-2, FS-30, FS-71, and FS-75 all meeting in Wrightdaughter, and Nordseehaven will also have its fair share of freeways. The state routes will be historic major routes, regional roads. Between the eastern border and Wrightdaughter on FS-30 will be a toll road called the "Armot-Wrightdaughter Tollway", which, despite the name, is planned not to go past the border into Illuvia, unless the owner agrees.
Rail transport will mainly serve Wrightdaughter and Nordseehaven, with future planes to expand passenger rail within the state. Sault will be unique as most of the branchlines will be owned by the state under "Sault Branchline Railroads Corporation" (SBRC) or just "Branchline Railroads", which was made to help make sure small communities still get rail access.
Airports will be the main long-distance choice for travel, with Wrightdaughter-Aviation Pioneers International Airport being the main airport in the state, serving Wrightdaughter, with South Sault Airport serving the Nordseehaven area.
The economy will be diverse, with the south being focus on manufacturing and trade, the Wrightdaughter area being the focus of insurance, commercial, and aviation, with several major companies being based in either of the 2, and the rest of the state will be mainly focus on grain and livestock.
[Note: I am unable to show the plan maps right now, keeps giving me an error] Simple western Ohio roads and such.
History & culture | |
---|---|
A brief description of the intended culture and language |
The history of Sault can be traced back to Native Archantans, which habited the area for thousands of years, with the first non-Natives being Valonian explorers, who helped give the name Sault, meaning leap, as in rapids (Like how Sault Ste. Marie was named). The only major presence of them was Cape Bourbon, named after the exposition's leader, which was abandoned after around a year, but the structure still stands.
During the time of westward expansion for the Federal States, new settlements began to prop up, alongside the establishment of Sault Territory, with its capital being Senepii (now a neighborhood), following statehood around 1830, the capital was moved to Wrightdaughter to help please northern settlers, around this time the south became a trading hub due to its presence along the coast of Lake Senepii, but following the railroad boom, Wrightdaughter began to become a railroad hub, alongside new immigrants, especially Kalmish, began to make their presence, in the 20th century, Sault became a manufacturing hub, but following the Great War, manufacturing began to decline, causing Sault to lose population between 1960 and 1980, today Sault is diversified its economy, with Wrightdaughter becoming a hub for Civil Aviation.
The culture of the state can be split into 4: Wrightdaughter, Nordseehaven, Rural Sault, and Kaiser County, with Wrightdaughter being both the capital and largest city, it has a diverse culture and is becoming an economic hub for it's size compare to other cities. Nordseehaven is still focus on trade and manufacturing, and has some of the worse crime in the state. Rural Sault is focused on agriculture and lifestock, and trends to be conservative. Finally Kaiser County, based in the far north of the state, it has managed to keep its Kalmish influence, becoming a tourist hub because of that. Average western Ohio town history.

To support your request provide links to areas of OGF mapping which showcase your mapping skill. Mapping relevant to the requested theme & geography is especially useful | |
The {{coord}} template can optionally be used to link to the OGF map - it results in a nice formatted link. Or you can paste in a URL. |

Discussion for clarification & decision |
- Ok, I get I need to go get use to it again, and this will likely get denied, but I will like it if I get a certain area, like 1 county that I can edit it, as not only will I be practicing, the work goes towards my state, I am thinking of doing something like this for my started county: https://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=13/40.86615/-84.58202, plus I am a fast learner. - RhodeIslandWV (talk) 16:31, 9 November 2024 (UTC)
- Wiki users can’t directly upload images until they have been assigned a territory. If you have a sketch map, you can host it elsewhere (e.g. Imgur or even Discord) and link to it. Additionally, if you want to practice your mapping elsewhere before requesting a full territory, you are welcome to modify this request to be for a beginner (BG) territory; you will be able to relocate any mapping from your BG territory to a future “canon” territory in the future. -TheMayor (talk) 13:49, 10 November 2024 (UTC)
- The problem is that I don't really any apps that I can share images, so here is practically the only place, also I'll try to figure out how to relocate mapping with iD, I'll change it to a BG territory if I am unable to go my original request of starting in one county and getting full access latter. - RhodeIslandWV (talk) 16:34, 10 November 2024 (UTC)
- When we say "for example imgur", we do that because you can use that. You need both a sketch and good past mapping for the territory process, so without those please request a BG territory. Thanks/wangi (talk) 21:27, 10 November 2024 (UTC)
- Ok, I have changed it to BG33, but I will likely reapply for AR120-52 in the future, plus I will relocate the work I did to my next territory. - RhodeIslandWV (talk) 21:49, 10 November 2024 (UTC)

Approved - BG33. Reminder that beginner territories are for building up experience, they are not for long-term mapping. Thanks/wangi (talk) 23:00, 10 November 2024 (UTC) | |
