The Territory ID (from OpenGeofiction:Territories, e.g. AR123a) and proposed name of the country |
Exchange UL33g for
UL10-11
Westworth
County of Westworth
Note:
I am wishing to exchange my current territory, Aurelia (UL33g), for this new territory because I have found that Aurelia doesn't fit my mapping style and I don't want to map on a tropical island, I want to do European/Great Britain style mapping instead. Also the territory I'm applying for says its available but it already has a lot of mapping, is it possible to get this removed so I can start fresh or no?

The large County of Westworth would have a wide variety of climates and physical geography: most of the population would live in the west and central areas of the country. Major cities would be located on the west coast, at the main river mouth, and along the large river, around the lakes. Overall, the county is largely flat, with rolling hills in the bottom (inspired by Brecon Beacons National Park, Wales), and larger mountains in the very north (inspired by Scottish Highlands, Scotland). In between, around the river, would mostly be a plains environment with some hills. The climate is temperate, with a lot of rain but changeable weather throughout the year. It is a colder place overall, and doesn't get too hot in the summer (similar temperatures and climate to northern Scotland, so quite cold).

A brief description of the territory demographics, economic development, land occupation, infrastructure and mapping style |
Wealthy cities dominate the riverbanks, and stretching back from them there is a lot of farmland along the plains. The highlands and southern hills are sparsely populated, put people go there to live a simple and rural lifestyle. Some rural towns are quite poor, but the main cities are like most of our cities on earth: they have poor areas but they also have really rich areas. Infrastructure is generally good, motorways and dual carriageway trunk roads extend around the county, but in especially the highlands up north the roads are a lot more worse for wear and the electricity infrastructure isn't as good.

A brief description of the intended culture and language |
As this would make up part of Ingrea, it the history and culture is already very obvious, the County of Westworth has very much the same culture and language to the rest of Ingrea, although it is was settled slightly later, but still very old.

To support your request provide links to areas of OGF mapping which showcase your mapping skill. Mapping relevant to the requested theme & geography is especially useful | |
The {{coord}} template can optionally be used to link to the OGF map - it results in a nice formatted link. Or you can paste in a URL. |

- Hello. Thank you for the application. A few comments if this were to proceed any further.
- First, your single sample of mapping that is remotely British-themed is in Aurelia; more needs to be seen. Please note that Region 07 in Ingrea is a collab that can hold British-themed mapping (just send a message to Pawl to get started). Alternatively, you can do a sample area in one of the hexagons of the NUPDZ. At present, there is not enough mapping to suggest the territory, which should be largely rural. Any sample you have should highlight rural and town-level mapping. Basically, we need to see more and in the appropriate theme.
- Second, please provide a mock-up map of how you plan to lay things out in the territory. This helps give a more proper scope to what you are planning. Include in this some population figures, so we can see how big you're attempting to make things and if it is regionally appropriate.
- Third, what would you do with the extant mapping in the territory? Lynchester is a city that has lore attached to it outside of Ingrea. We can consider moving it elsewhere, but there are other bits of interconnected mapping to consider.
- Fourth, you say that the 'culture is obvious,' and yes it is on a meta-level. But, it's not obvious to us in other ways. You say "wealthy" cities. What does that mean? What industries are in the region? What types of economic and social structures are there? You can reference some real-world places if you need to. Are you thinking more like Cumberland or Lancashire? Something further south and industrial like Notts? This is the part of economy and culture that needs some more definition.
- Thank you for taking the time to respond to these points with more mapping and more clarity. — Alessa (talk) 01:48, 1 October 2024 (UTC)
