Reflections on a new name for the State The name Lechia suffers from a lack of originality – it is a commonly used word in the Polish language and serves as an alternative, euphemistic term for Poland. This term also forms the basis of the name for Poland in several East European languages, such as Crimean Tatar and Turkish, where the form Lehistan is used. For this reason, I have deemed it appropriate to begin considering the idea of changing the name. |

1. | Lemina | Leminia | Leminians | It can be considered that the root Lemi- comes from the hypothetical Proto-Velitic word lěmъ, which could have meant edge - what refers to the eastern coast | Olejowy (talk) |
2. | Lemigalia | Lemigalia | Lemigalians | It can be considered that the root Lemi- comes from the hypothetical Proto-Velitic word lěmъ, which could have meant edge. The suffix -galia could derive from the Proto-Velitic word golъ, which meant bare, naked, without trees, and could refer to open spaces. | Olejowy (talk) |
3. | Lemiłgawa | Lemilgava | Lemilgavans | It can be considered that the root Lemi- comes from the hypothetical Proto-Velitic word lěmъ, which could have meant edge. The suffix '-łgawa' could be a combination of the Proto-Velitic word lugъ, which meant meadow, wetland (as in the word łęg, referring to a marshy area), and the ending -awa, typical for river names. | Olejowy (talk) |
4. | Lacja | Lacia | Lacians | From Oldpolish word lacki (polish, catholic). | Lankusiek (talk) |
5. | Nowakia | Novakia | Novakian | As I known nothing about polish language, I took a look in Google and seems loke Nowak is the most popular surname in Poland. I tried to created something like "Nowak's land". Yes, I got an OGF-country using this name in south Tarephia, but surely I would change it if you choose this name, as I seems to fit better in current Lechia than in south Tarephia. | BMSOUZA (talk) 13:23, 21 September 2024 (UTC) |
6. | Zetrwalia | Zetrwalia | Zetrwalians | From zetrwać (przetrwać, wytrzymać, wybyć — survive, endure, get through), and the ending –lia. Final form can be modified | Lankusiek (talk) |
7. | Zawikłynia | Zaviklynia | Zaviklynians | Literal translation could be "The country beyond the rift" referring to the passage of the Velitic peoples through the rift. From za- (beyond), wnik or wnitek (ciasne przejście — tight passage) or wnikły (wgłębiony — recessed), however, the letter n has disappeared, and additionally the ending –nia. | Lankusiek (talk) |
8. | Kołenska | Colne / Kolna / Kolenia | Kolnians / Kolenians | Uncertain etymology, some ideas: - from Proto-Velitic kòlъ ((wooden) stake, sudis (Roman defensive object (uncertain))); - from Proto-Velitic koltъ (to gouge, create a hole); - from Proto-Velitic kolesьnъ (wheel); - from Proto-Velitic kolěno (knee) |

9. | Łenska | Lenn / Lenia / Lenardia | Lennish / Lenians / Lennards(?) /Potential derivatives: Lenard (The Lenard Order) | Uncertain etymology, some ideas: - from len (linen, flax); - from Proto-Uletarephian word *leǵ- (to gather, to collect) -> *leǵ-no-m (that which is collected); - from Proto-Velitic *lěnь (lazy) |

10. | Ignarchia | Ignarchia | Ignarchian | It derives directly from the Latin word ignis, meaning fire. | Olejowy (talk) |
11. | Zasokocja / Zachocja | Zasocosia / Zachosia | Zasocosians / Zachosians | Uncertain etymology. Uncle Google said that cleft/chasm (polish: szczelina) is socors in latin, but it is rather not. | Lankusiek (talk) |
12. | Wietacja / Wełtacja / Wełtycja |
Vietacia / Vetacia / Velitacia / Veliticia |
Vietacians / Vetacians / Velitacians / Veliticians |
Uncertain etymology. Could be from the name of the Wietaci/Wełtyci (Vietati/Vieti/Velti/Velitic?) tribe, and that from Proto-Velitic vějati (wiać — to blow) or věťati (wiecać, mówić — to say). It would mean, there where the wind blows or/and those who say. | Lankusiek (talk) |

Dyskusja / Discussion
For my proposals, I've noted only the root words for the names, the actual stories and how the names formed and changed overtime can be derived from those, but I didn't want to overfill the table with lots of text. ⸺ Bixelkoven (talk) (West Uletha Admin) 11:53, 5 October 2024 (UTC)

- This is a good selection, in my opinion, and I'm glad the users in the project have had a good discussion about it. Let's move to the community part of this and see if we can make this official soon. There will be a one-week community vote to accept or deny this proposal, as chosen by the users in that project. Olejowvy, I'll let you start it when you feel ready to do it. (For clarification, the users that participated in the voting can and are encouraged to vote as part of the community-wide effort also.) — Alessa (talk) 12:39, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
