Collab:Federal States/Collaborative States/Cosperica
This page is for the planning and coordination of Cosperica (AR120-84, map link), the western collaborative state in the Federal States (AR120). Anyone interested in contributing to this state is welcome to make themselves known on the talk page, or browse the active projects below. The project is intended to be organised with a basic structure, not too prescriptive, with decisions being taken as required, reactive to progress.
Coordination
The coordinators of Cosperica are oneofbeatlefan and wangi.
Basics
Cosperica is expected to resemble Southern California and south-western USA.
Its largest city is Esperanza (full: Santa Maria de la Esperanza). It is a large metropolis, forming one of FSA's main centres of population, will be located somewhere on or near the state's coast. Most of the other cities will also be focused near the coast and in one or two river valleys, which can be major agricultural areas. A key aspect of Cosperica is the stark contrast between its sprawling modern cities and its vast empty rural lands, which — apart from the one or two valleys — are expected to feature very little population. Rural landscapes will include mountains, deserts, canyons, etc, many of which may be protected by national parks and other wilderness areas. The climate is hot, sunny, and relatively dry. This area was first colonized by the Castellanese and their cultural influence is still evident. The region became part of the Federal States in the 19th century, with westward expansion from the east coast.
Counties will be smaller along the coast, but may be very large in the sparsely populated inland areas.
Mapping should pay attention to agreed topology and climate information (in progress).
Collaborative framework
A series of projects will be used to coordinate development of the mapping of Cosperica. Every location in the state will be relatively easy to reference back to a real-world location in Southern California, Arizona, or Northern Mexico.
- Colab phase 1: Natural features - rivers, desert, forest, coastline, ...
- Colab phase 2: Indigenous people - early population centres, tracks
- Colab phase 3: Early colonist era, early population centres, ports, tracks
- Colab phase 4: Industrialisation, railways (introduction of section squares to lead collaboration)
- Colab phase 5: Current day - motorways, massive suburban development
For early phases tiles within a 60x30 minute grid will be used to coordinate projects. This will be augmented by counties and sections as the project develops.
